Simser Consulting opened its doors on August 19, 2002. Since then, Scott Simser has been proud of his achievements, including the following:
A proud 25% owner of a gourmet bakery located at 169 Brunswick Avenue in Toronto near the University of Toronto, which has a chef who has won several culinary medals; see www.desserttrends.ca. Simser Consulting manages the property, and offers this type of business acumen to clients.
Reduced a client's tax arrears from $69,000 to $38,000 by identifying tax-saving opportunities that were missed over a number of years, thus saving over $30,000 in taxes!
Persuaded an immigration tribunal to allow a permanent resident of Canada, originally from Kuwait, to retain his status and thus to return to Canada by highlighting his deafness and his ties to Canada.
Won, in civil court, for a client to recover a promissory note of over $20,000 from a debtor, even though the promissory note was at the time over ten years old and the debtor had filed for bankruptcy for a long time.
Obtained over seven Court Challenges Program contracts; this important program sponsors carefully selected Charter cases that aim to result in substantial equity for historically disadvantaged groups such as persons with disabilities.
Enabled a construction contractor to resolve three years (and in deep trouble with Revenue Canada) of no filing for goods and services tax, payroll tax, and federal income tax, by compiling records and quickly filing on his behalf.
